🌼The Kids are all Bright 🌼 Took a few days off from IG as my grandmother passed on Friday. She was one day shy of her 94th birthday and an amazing woman who at age 50 , post-divorce and with five kids, went back to school to become a nurse. She worked nights for years at Florida Hospital. Later, at age 78 thought she wanted to retire so she moved to Georgia to my moms house. But shortly after realized she couldn’t sit around all day so she went back to work at a hospice center. She was just too good at caring for others to quit. When she did finally retire in her 80’s she knitted thousands of caps for newborns in NICU. Chances are if your baby was in NICU in Macon, Ga in the 2010’s they came home with a hat knitted by my grandma. Sadly, her memories faded with dementia in her later years but even if she couldn’t place her visitors she knew she was loved the whole time. She passed with family at her side peacefully in her sleep. Now why am I posting this dress here? Well, I was supposed to visit her this past weekend. She loved it when I wore pretty dresses and she even sewed many over the years for me… all of which I will keep forever. I had packed this dress to wear when I saw her because I knew she would love the burst of sunshine it provides even if she probably wouldn’t know who the wearer was. Sadly, I missed her by a day. Grandma loved my garden here in Vermont. When she had her own place roses grew around her porch and she was always so proud of them. So as a tribute to Grandma here’s my sunshine dress among the flowers that make me think of her. She will forever be a bright ray of sunshine in my heart.
